We know her as Beyonce, however she was born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981, in Houston to Matthew and Tina Knowles. She began her musical career with the popular R&B group Destiny’s Child at the age of 9. Knowles’ father, Mathew, was the manager of Destiny’s Child. After performing extensively in the Houston area, the group appeared on Star Search, a popular national TV talent competition. Although they did not win the contest it lead to a recording deal with Columbia.
Destiny’s Child released their first album in 1997 and it was a tremendous success in Europe. After the album’s release, the Destiny’s Child kicked off a tour of sold-out shows in Europe. Their second album, The Writing’s on the Wall (1999), made them popular in the US. The album included three top-ten hits. In 2001, Destiny’s Child, the group released their third album, Survivor.
In 2003, Beyoncé went solo and released her debut album Dangerously In Love. Crazy In Love shot to the top of the pop charts the biggest hit of the summer, staying at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for ten weeks. Her first album Dangerously In Love went to the top of the album charts in Europe and Canada, and the Billboard 200 and R&B charts. The album has sold over 6 million copies.
The future looks bright for Beyonce including talks of a Las Vegas run at Encore in the Wynn Casino. We would all love to see Beyonce in Las Vegas.
